My Bio
Hi, I’m Mrs. Welch and I’m so excited to be a primary lead teacher for the next school year. I have been an assistant in Ms. Cyr’s room for the last two school years and I’m proud to be stepping into the lead role. I live here in Gilbert, and my two kids (Benji, 4 and Kate, 7) also attend the Montessori program here. I attended Montessori primary as a child, and I use the Montessori method at home with my children, as well. I enjoy seeing children follow their interests, ask questions, and become confident learners. My background is in elementary education. I am a certified teacher with a reading endorsement. I taught in Arizona public and charter schools for almost 10 years, before deciding to stay home when I had my daughter. I taught grades 1, 3, and 4 and I loved every minute of it. However, after having my own kids, the importance and significance of early childhood education has fascinated me and I’m glad I can make the switch to working with children during these crucial years. My husband and I are both from Rochester, NY and moved here right after college to escape the snow. We spend summers back in New York, though, which is the perfect blend, in my opinion! As parents of small children know, I don’t have many active hobbies at the moment. However, I do play the flute in the Mesa Community College community band, I love to sew when I get the time, and I enjoy reading when possible. I also love to travel. My door is always open to parents, as well as my email. I believe teaching is a partnership and I welcome ideas, questions, volunteers, and participation however you are available. I love having parents share their passions with our class. We have such a diverse community with many different expertises and cultures and a Montessori classroom is the perfect place to share these experiences. I look forward to getting to know your children. I truly understand the trust a parent places in their child’s teacher, and I thank you for that opportunity
