My Bio
Hi, I’m Mrs. Liz Welch and I’m so excited to return for my fourth year at San Tan Montessori, and my second as Lead Guide. I live here in Gilbert, and my two kids (Benji, 5 and Kate, 9) also attend Montessori schools. I am Montessori certified through NAMC for the Primary level. I attended Montessori primary as a child, and I use the Montessori method at home with my children, as well. I enjoy seeing children follow their interests, ask questions, and become confident learners.
My background is in elementary education. I am a certified teacher with a reading endorsement. I taught in Arizona public and charter schools for almost 10 years, before deciding to stay home when I had my daughter. I taught grades 1, 3, and 4 and I loved every minute of it. However, after having my own kids, the importance and significance of early childhood education has fascinated me and I’m glad I can make the switch to working with children during these crucial years.
My husband and I are both from Rochester, NY (Go Bills!) and moved here right after college to escape the snow. We spend summers back in New York, though, which is the perfect blend, in my opinion! I love to travel, read (Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter are some of my favorites), and I also play the flute in the Mesa Community College band.
My door is always open to parents, as well as my email. I believe teaching is a partnership and I welcome ideas, questions, volunteers, and participation however you are available. I love having parents share their passions with our class. We have such a diverse community with many different expertise and cultures and a Montessori classroom is the perfect place to share these experiences. I look forward to getting to know your children. I truly understand the trust a parent places in their child’s teacher, and I thank you for that opportunity.
