Happy Tuesday Roadrunners!

I really wish the weather would make up its mind and be cold or hot, we have more jackets, and such in lost and found I could open a thrift store, or you might see the kiddos selling them at the Montessori Market in the drivelane Friday.

Congratulations to our Varsity Boys Basketball team as they won the 2A State Title bring home our first AIA state championship! It was an incredible game to watch and a wonderful accomplishment for our school community.

As anticipated, we have officially hired Recker’s next Principal Mrs. Katie Cox. Please see Mrs. Cox’s welcome letter below. Mrs. Cox will be joining our community after the upcoming Spring Break, April 2nd so that she and Mrs. Richardson can begin to collaborate with the Recker staff and finish the year strong!

Dear Recker Roadrunner Community,

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as San Tan Charter School’s newest Principal for the Recker Campus. I am eager and excited to work alongside the incredible students, dedicated educators, and supportive community members of San Tan. I look forward to collaborating closely with Dr. Sippel, Mrs. Richardson, and Mr. Tauscher to ensure that San Tan Charter School is the best educational option in the East Valley.

The vision set forth by Dr. and Mrs. Sippel to offer three distinct models of learning is a testament to the unique environment fostered at San Tan. I am committed to supporting our teachers in making each learning option the best it can be while nurturing our close-knit school community.

My journey in education began as a Teach for America corps member. I continued working as an educator and coach for eight years before I was promoted to administration. I’ve been fortunate to have held many roles in administration including Dean of Students, Director, Head of Operations, and most recently Principal. I have worked in both the charter school and district-school capacity, and my experience ranges from Kindergarten through 12th grade. My true passion is in leading an elementary school, where I have found a deep sense of purpose in witnessing young learners blossom both academically and personally. I firmly believe in the power of the school-home partnership and believe that every student can achieve greatness.

It is an honor and a privilege to lead a school community, and I take this responsibility to heart. My husband, Jon, also works as an educator, and we have two young children, Samuel and Penelope. Our family is thrilled to be joining the San Tan family. I look forward to meeting each of you and fostering a culture of collaboration and communication.

Please know that my door is always open, and I welcome your input and feedback. Together, we will continue to create a nurturing environment where every student can thrive.

Warmest regards,

Katie Cox
