San Tan Charter School is Approved for a 20 Year Renewal as a Charter School
After Meeting with the Governing Charter Board, Administrators from San Tan Charter School Were Able to Implement a Number of New Processes that Will Help the School Be Even More Successful
GILBERT, Arizona—Recently, the administration and staff at San Tan Charter School received some exciting and welcome news: after undergoing an extensive review, San Tan officially earned its 20 year renewal as a charter school.
Dr. Kristofer Sippel, CEO and Superintendent of Schools, said the renewal process involved a desk review and a pop-in visit by the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools that ensured the school was in “compliance with federal and state laws, the terms of the charter contract, and to confirm alignment with the program of instruction.”
As Brandon Tauscher, Principal of the school’s 7-12 Power Campus noted, he and other administrators enjoyed welcoming the governing charter board into the school during the review, as well as sharing their systems for operations with the members.
“The feedback we received from the board during that process was extremely valuable and we were able to implement new processes right away to help our school,” Tauscher said.
For example, one of the new processes involves the school’s enrollment process and updating the school’s website to make it clear on the first section of the enrollment page that military families without an Arizona address could enroll their children at San Tan Charter School.
“For me personally, as a long time educator, receiving specific feedback from Superintendent Kathy Hoffman that showed her appreciation for our school and our specialized programs in the East Valley was very encouraging.”
When the great news about the 20 year renewal was sent to San Tan Charter School’s board members, many were quick to praise the school and its commitment to its student body.
“This renewal could not be a more appropriate recognition of the quality of education being offered at San Tan Charter School as well as the visionary leadership that led to its founding and ongoing operations,” said board member Father Tom Enneking.
“It’s been a privilege to be involved in the success of the first 20 years and I look forward to the second 20 years,” board member Sam Tomlin added.
Tauscher said he and the entire administration and staff at San Tan Charter School was thrilled to not only earn the 20 year renewal, but also to have their dedication to their students recognized by the governing charter board.
“We certainly have remarkable things happening every day in our school and that effort was recognized and rewarded by the board,” he said.
Sarah Laramie, Principal of the school’s K-6 Recker Campus said the application process reminded her of how much San Tan Charter School has grown during her time at the school, and how it is a thriving place where students succeed.
“It was such a joy to see how our school has not only grown but also remained true to our mission, vision, and values for these past 15 years. With this charter extension, we get to impact students for many more years to come,” she said.
“Thinking about the countless students that will go through our doors over the next 20 years and our fantastic staff’s impact on them, it is a joy to continue this great work.”
