Attendance

With attendance in class as a priority to enhance learning and increase student achievement, San Tan is offering Restorative Justice every Friday afternoon from 3:45-4:15.  Every week students’ attendance and tardies reports will be looked at.  If a student has reached 4 or more cumulative tardies and absences, an email will be sent to parents from Mrs. Walker, by Wednesday, informing the parents of the time to stay after school.  Mrs. Walker will then meet with the student Thursday to also inform the student of staying for Restorative Justice.  Please be aware that Restorative Justice is simply a reflective time to help build a goal for more efficiency and to make up time out of the classroom.  Restorative Justice is not a detention setting, and we would like for the time to be more on personal growth and development and understanding of the importance of school and the classroom time.  We thank you in advance for support as we continue to help shape our students with this very important workplace transferrable skill.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Walker for any questions at kwalker@santancs.com.

PSAT 8/9 & NMSQT Testing Opportunity

On October 10th, the Counseling Department will be offering the PSAT 8/9 test
to help our high school students get prepared for one of the most common college entrance exams, the SAT. The PSAT™8/9 is considered to be the official pre-test for the exam and will be ordered directly from the exam organization so that students can familiarize themselves with actual test content.

Students who wish to apply for the National Merit Scholarships MUST take this test their sophomore and/or junior years. The PSAT/NMSQT test is different from the PSAT 8/9 and the PSAT 10 and is only offered one time throughout each school year. Specifically for this test, The Collegeboard partners with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to use this PSAT test as a qualifier for their National Merit Scholarship program.

Please note that this test session takes place during our Fall Break. We will be offering other test dates for the PSAT 8/9, but this will be our first session. It is

highly suggested that students take the practice exams as many times as they
can, to help familiarize themselves with test content. The test session will
begin promptly at 8:00am and will take around 3 hours to complete.

There will be a registration fee of $20.00, which can be paid for in the front office.

If you would like for your student to attend this test session and take the PSAT 8/9, please use the signup link to register:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0F4FA4A629A5FF2-psat.

Library Partnership

We are excited to announce that we have partnered with the Southeast Regional Library.  Representatives from the library will be on campus Friday  9/14 and 9/21 from 8 am-12 pm to issue every student on our campus library cards.  With their library card, students will have access to check out 5 items, computer access at the library, access to all research databases, and ACT/SAT test prep practice.  Please help us remind your student to have their student ID cards in their backpacks.

As always, thank you for choosing San Tan!
