My Bio

My name is Samera Anderson and I am thrilled to be joining the Joshua Trees next year. My family and I have been a part of the San Tan community for the last five years where we have made strong and lasting connections.

I grew up in Flagstaff where I met my husband in 7th grade math class! We have three very active boys in 5th, 9th and 11th grade. My educational background includes a B.S. in Business Administration with a major in finance. Additionally, I have a M.S. in Accountancy, a RYT (registered yoga teacher) certification and am certified as a mindfulness coach. Professionally, I had a 20 year progressive career in finance where I primarily worked in the nonprofit and education sectors. Those years of experience granted me the opportunity to pursue my dream career of becoming a teacher.

Prior to teaching at San Tan, I taught math intervention and yoga to middle and high school students. This year, my schedule is similar with the rigor of math and the opportunity to support students mentally, and physically in yoga and mindfulness. I believe learning is a lifelong endeavor and must incorporate the whole child. Our students will always pick up on our passion for learning, growing and achieving.

Outside of school, I am an avid reader, hiker and gardener. Growing up in Flagstaff fostered a love of the outdoors that I maintain today.
