My Bio
Dear Families and Colleagues,
My name is Jessica Rockwood, and I am honored to be a part of the San Tan Montessori Preschool. I was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, and from an early age, I felt a deep calling to work in education and support the development of young children.
I hold a degree in Developmental Services and began my career working with individuals with disabilities and brain trauma. These early experiences profoundly shaped my understanding of individualized care and the importance of creating supportive, inclusive environments where every person can thrive.
In 2010, my husband and I relocated to beautiful Northern Idaho, where we started our family and were blessed with two incredible daughters. During my time at home with them, I became actively involved in our local community, volunteering in church programs, supporting early childhood initiatives, and helping organize a community garden project that provided fresh produce to local food banks.
My introduction to Montessori came when our daughters enrolled in a local Montessori program. Witnessing their growth and confidence blossom in such a nurturing and empowering setting inspired me to pursue Montessori training through the North American Montessori Center, where I earned my teaching credentials. I went on to lead a primary classroom, where I saw firsthand the powerful impact of a child-centered, respectful approach to education.
In 2017, our journey took us to Arizona. I began working in the Title I program at Peralta Trail Elementary and later opened a Montessori-based preschool in our home following the birth of our son in 2019. Although operating my own preschool was a rewarding chapter, I eventually returned to the classroom as the Primary Lead Teacher at Wonderland Montessori, where I was privileged to support my students through many important milestones.
Following the closure of Wonderland Montessori in the summer of 2024, I embraced a new chapter as the Lead Toddler Teacher at San Tan Montessori. This past year has been one of incredible growth, connection, and inspiration. I am deeply grateful to be part of such a passionate, collaborative team that values curiosity, lifelong learning, and the unique potential of every child.
I wholeheartedly believe that children flourish when provided with the tools, encouragement, and environment to explore their natural curiosity. As an educator, I consider it a true privilege to walk alongside our students, guiding, learning, and growing with them each day. I look forward to the year ahead and to supporting your children as they discover, grow, and reach their fullest potential.
Thank you for welcoming me into this wonderful community. I am excited for all that we will learn and achieve together.
Warm regards, Jessica Rockwood
