Errington Edition 12/4

 In Branding

Dear San Tan Families,

We have officially started MAP testing and our kids are just soaring! Thank you for keeping tardies and early dismissals to a minimum so we can limit the need for make-up testing. However, if your child is sick please don’t hesitate to keep them home if they have a  fever of 101.0, throwing up, diarrhea, etc… for at least 24 hours. This will help minimize the spread of germs this winter season. Please be on the lookout next week for our new and improved online registration for the 2019-2020 school year!

Map Testing TIPS for Success:

  • Getting a good night sleep
  • Limiting technology at least an hour before bedtime- Screens on cell phones, computers, tablets, and televisions emit what’s known as blue light. This light is picked up by photoreceptors in the retina that sense light and dark, signaling to the brain that it’s either morning or night. Typically, the sun triggers our photoreceptors, but studies show that even small electronic devices emit enough light to trick the brain into thinking it’s time to stay awake.”
  • Eating a healthy breakfast that includes protein and bringing a healthy snack with water
  • Getting to school in a timely manner and keeping early dismissals to a minimum

These efforts will assist our students with showing us how much they’ve learned. It also helps keep makeups to a minimum so our teachers have the most data to inform their ILPS and Report Cards we will share with you in January.

Keep the STAFF SHOUTOUTS coming! Please feel free to visit this link to give a teacher or staff member a shoutout: https://goo.gl/forms/E9t7xmwn189p4gWm1 .

Staff Shoutout Highlights for the week:

Mrs. Robin Norgren- Montessori Kindergarten- Mrs. Norgren is an exceptional Teacher! She is thoughtful, creative, and inspiring. We really could not run out of wonderful words to describe her. Our son is learning so much, looks forward to school every day, and says he has the best Teacher ever.

Mrs. Heidi Simpson–  Second Grade- She had done an awesome job taking over 2nd grade. My daughter came home beaming about what all her friends thought about her from her “fill my bucket” project. Thanks Ms. Simpson!

Jingle Jog December 19th!

All Roadrunners are invited to put a little Jingle in their Jog!!!  Participants are encouraged to wear their fun holiday attire- fancy hats or headbands, tutus, holiday shirts, or socks, etc.  Get creative!  Student Government’s fun run helps raise money for the needy: blankets, socks, snack bags.  We will be selling homemade jingle bell bracelets for $1 and jingle bell necklaces for $2.  See the attached order forms which can be dropped off in the main office. Be sure to order your bracelets and necklaces before December 14th.   K-4 will jog during their scheduled PE time.  Middle school will jog during 7th hour. Orders will be delivered to the classroom on December 19th.

The tax credit program is the perfect way to give and support San Tan Charter School’s goal of $86,000.00, we saw an incredible response this Giving Tuesday and have raised $27,000.00, thank you! The program is a win/win for everyone. By redirecting your tax dollars, you will support special programs at San Tan Charter School such as Music Education, which each student participates in and Physical Education, in which students participate in daily. It also provides weekly Library time for our students. At the high school level this helps support our amazing electives offerings. The best part, is whatever you contribute, you will receive dollar for dollar back on your state taxes. So, if you give $100, you can deduct that $100 off what you owe in taxes. If you are a married couple, you may only contribute up to $400. If you are single, the total amount that you can contribute is $200. A one-time contribution is also wonderful. The form link is now  https://yqysjrrxph.formstack.com/forms/?1627645-EuNcDzZTd2

In addition, if you are interested in giving more, please consider the private school tax credit. Our Private Montessori School gives out around $60,000.00 a year in scholarship to those families in need. The best part is whatever you contribute, you will receive dollar for dollar back on your state taxes. So, if you give $500, you can deduct that $500 off what you owe in taxes. If you are a married couple, you may contribute up to $1,090. If you are single, the total amount that you can contribute is $545. Donations can be dropped off in the front office, please make checks out to San Tan Montessori and put in the memo line Private School Tax Credit.

Middle School Concert (Grades 5-7): The Middle School choir class, Cantus, will also be putting on a winter concert on December 13th at 6:30pm in the Recker gym. All students in Cantus will need to be in the gym at 6pm to warm up their voices, and to do some spot checks in the music before we perform. Students are permitted to wear Green, Red, Gold, Silver, and Blue for the concert. Please join Cantus as we travel to different parts of the world as we sing carols from Nigeria, Ukraine, Venezuela, and a few other countries. The music is a lot of fun, and will be a great start to the holiday season for the San Tan Community.

Elementary Art Walk and Photo Booth Fundraiser (Grades K-4)

Our fantastic team of Art Masterpiece Volunteers will be showcasing students’ best work in our annual Winter Art Walk on December 18th at 4:30 p.m., an hour before the music concert, in the courtyard. Our creative students have been looking forward to showing off their work in front of their families all semester! Please don’t miss our festive pop-up photo booth that will also be there with professional Jenny Del Toro. Photos will start at 4 p.m. for those who want to get their family pictures early enough to have plenty of time for artwalk and will run until sundown. Our Art Masterpiece team is offering a real deal at $10 for two or $15 for 3 emailed photo files in a fun scene put together by San Tan’s most creative. 100% of sales will go towards funding the color, sparkle, and other supplies our students need to create their wonderful artworks. Both students and volunteers would very much appreciate the support! CASH ONLY PLEASE.

Elementary Music Concert (Grades K-4): The Elementary classes of San Tan Charter School will be putting on a concert for the San Tan Charter School Community on December 18th at 5:30pm on the Recker football field. All students will need to be in the Recker gym at 5pm, so that each classroom teacher has time to place the kiddos in a certain order. Also, please have your kiddo wear something warm because after the sun sets, it will become quite chilly out on the field. Please join the Freeze Team as we play a game show called “Freeze Frame!” and enjoy the antics of the show’s cast, as well as the show’s singers. We have worked hard on the music and are excited to perform the show for the San Tan community. NOTE: bring your chairs, blankets, and jackets. We will have some great events occurring at this evening to benefit our Recker Campus.

The Scholastic Book Fair will be arriving soon, and we are excited about sharing the joy of reading with our students. We invite you to participate in this year’s Scholastic Book Fair from, December 14th-20th, by volunteering. Scholastic Book Fairs gives our school the opportunity to bring families, teachers, students, and books together.  It’s the ultimate book event!

Being a part of something special is easier than you think.  There are lots of ways to volunteer.  We need people in a variety of areas, including:

  • Merchandising our Book Fair and table displays to create a terrific bookstore environment.
  • Working at our Cashier Table and helping students and shoppers select just the right books.
