1st Grade Gifted Teacher

My Bio

Hi fellow Roadrunners. I am Ginny Gregersen and I eagerly await meeting my new first grade gifted students here at San Tan. You may know my grandsons, Jack and Will Ferro, who are in the fourth and third grades.  Along with their baby brother, Drew, they are the reason that I moved here in July. I come from the Chicago area where summer used to be my favorite season after the long winters of shoveling snow, scraping windshields, and skidding on icy roads. I am looking forward to winter as my new favorite season with comfortable temperatures and sunshine October through April.

I have loved the last 30 plus years of teaching gifted children and I just can’t seem to give it up. I am known for providing opportunities for children to create messy projects with personal meaning. Reading is my passion and nothing is more thrilling to me than seeing the light in a child’s eyes when learning to read has clicked! Teaching children to solve challenging math word problems is a joy for me as we discern the best strategy to use whether it’s drawing pictures, making a chart, guess and check, and the list goes on. I love to sing as we work and though my voice is very average and my range is shortening, the children don’t seem to mind. I make a lot of mistakes and have learned to laugh about them, so give me your perfectionist children and we will celebrate mistakes together. I realize that we all get frustrated and need time alone to reflect and regroup.  There is a ‘thinking chair’ in my room where past and future presidents, scientists, and artists have pondered.  Your child may be one of them.  I am humbly grateful for this opportunity to develop a relationship with you and your child here at San Tan Charter School.
