My Why Story

I chose to become a teacher for many reasons. The first was that when I was a teenager, people always said to me, “You would be a great teacher when you grow up.” Later on, when I volunteered in my own children’s classrooms, I found that I enjoyed the teaching and learning process and met many inspirational teachers and mentors. I never entered teaching with the illusion that it would be an easy job, but I did enter the job knowing that it would be fulfilling. Throughout the years that I have been an educator I have sacrificed time with my own children, often arriving early to work and staying late into the evening. But, in this career one must have a strong work ethic and be dedicated. I’ve chosen to teach because I want to make a difference in student’s lives. Our students are our future and I deeply desire for our future to be brighter, both literally and figuratively. My deepest desire is for each young person I teach to be  a good person, a successful learner with a growth mindset, and to have a love for learning!
