Preschool Outdoor Environment Teacher

My Bio

I am thrilled to embark on my third year at San Tan! I bring my Montessori Primary teacher certification and international gardening experience to my position as lead Montessori Outdoor Environment teacher. I am a deep believer in the Montessori method and my Montessori trainer, Mary Ellen Maunz, was trained by Dr. Elisabeth Caspari, a direct trainee of Dr. Maria Montessori. I am delighted to carry on in their footsteps here at San Tan!

Born in Montana, I attended several Montessori schools across the country and served for two years with the Montana Conservation Corps. I earned my B.A. from The University of Texas at Dallas in Art and Performance where I also spearheaded a new community garden and volunteer program. After studying abroad in Germany I spent several years traveling, teaching, and gardening throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and England.

Exploring the world was an unforgettable adventure and I have much to share from my travels with my students. In addition to being a certified Montessori Primary teacher, I am also an internationally accredited yoga teacher-trainer and instructor and enjoy teaching singing and violin to young students. I love cooking nourishing meals with home-grown produce, practicing yoga, and exploring beautiful Arizona with my husband Theodor and our daughters Eleanor and Lillianne.
