My Bio

Hello! My name is Ashley Gifford and I am an Arizona native, born and raised, right here in Mesa and Gilbert. I love the outdoors and all things adventure. I enjoy hiking, wakeboarding, snowboarding, meditation, yoga, dance, and yes, long walks (or naps) on the beach. ☺ I attended Mountain View High School in Mesa and went on to ASU, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. After the birth of my daughter, Tayler, my passion for little minds overtook me.  I went on to obtain Highly Qualified Certification in Early Childhood Education, as well as Assistant Montessori Teacher certification through AMI.

I have been teaching for the past 7 years to primary, elementary, and secondary-students...I know, what a range of ages!  Helping kiddos release their innate creative potential is truly my passion. I have been able to do just that in so many ways at STCS. I had the privilege of teaching science and math to middle school students my first year, and the following year I was given the opportunity to create and implement our middle school STEM program, while teaching half-day kindergarten; yes, the two ends of the spectrum that I embody collided and I loved every minute of it! The next year I had the privilege of exposing our elementary students to STEM and was beyond thrilled to host our first STEMfest, an event that is now an incredibly fun annual tradition for our entire school community. A couple of years ago I came full circle, back to my roots, teaching 8th Grade Science, Physics, and Chemistry, as well as STEM and Engineering and had a blast! Guiding our secondary schoolers to develop their natural talents too…that was some amazing icing on the cake! That icing also birthed another new tradition for our school: our Natural Talent Showcase. In addition to all that fun, I created and implemented our first ever Forensics Program last year, and the kiddos had a blast following and processing evidence to solve cases. They surely become the best forensic analysts our school has ever seen. ☺ I absolutely love it here at San Tan and I am excited to work with our middle school students this year, guiding them through project-based learning, centered around the fundamentals of math and science that govern the world around us. Providing them with tools for self-expression, through writing, and many others, well that just makes me smile from ear to ear. It is going to be a great year with so many additions to our San Tan family and programs. Here’s to new beginnings!
